Fast start to summer season.

The Summer Season started on the 7th June with 2 fiercely contested matches. Winter league winners, Allport struckeld at first against Sure Start but by the second half of the match, they found there groove and won 21 -12. Sure Start is one of our 6 new teams and they put a lot of defencesive pressure early on in the match. Kerry Fisher was star player for Sure Start at Goal Defence and Natalie Brown starred for Allport also at Goal Defence.
Runners up in the Winter League, Deal Vics had a easier start to there match even with a player down. They opened up an 18 -7 lead at half time. CVT (Coombe Valley Transport) did come back at them and won the third quarter but it was all too late. Deal Vics recovered and ran away with the match with a 37-23 win. Star player for CVT was Brenda Law at Goal Shooter, one of our longest playing netballers who joked that she's to old to get star player. For Deal Vics Jessica Foster at Goal Defence was the stand out player for her mix of great defence, interceptions and support play for the attack.

Deal Vics made a tactical switch by dropping Wing Attack to Goal Shooter and made a good recovery and at 3/4 time the match was tied at 17 all. Last quarter started with a goal for goal until Deal Vics defence worked together and intercepted a ball and Goal Shooter, Ronel Edgington made it count. That gave Deal Vics the edge and they kept it until the end, winning 26-22. Daisy Hammond starred for Perrys at Goal Defence and Ronel Edgington for Deal Vics at Goal Shooter.

Kent Netball Archives

Do you hold any memorabilia relating to Netball in Kent.

I am a member of a small group of Kent Netball enthusiasts who have been meeting to discuss what to do with the material we each hold relating to Kent Netball and how we can bring together data from netballers in Kent, before all these interesting and historical records are lost forever.
We believe that it is essential that the historical records of netball in Kent are safeguarded in a professional way. Archives are an important reference point of history, knowledge and interest and can provide scholars, netballers and the general public with an understanding of the culture, heritage and achievements of Kent Netball. Netball is, after all, the only ‘female only’ sport played by over 20 million women throughout the world and it all started in Kent.
Dartford College now the North West Kent College and part of the University of Greenwich, (where there is a ‘blue plaque’ commemorating Madam Österberg who devised the game of Netball), have offered to house Kent Netball’s archive material.
I am writing to you to see if you have any material you would like us to include in the archive, or lend to us so that copies can be taken and stored? We are looking for :

Photographs Newsletters Newspaper clippings

Correspondence County playing kit Handbooks

Playing schedules Match reports Any other interesting items

If you are able to help in any way, please contact me or send me anything you would like us to archive.

Yours sincerely
